Phone Scam Reported Tue, 05 Mar 2013 15:49:44 CST
Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputies are warning about a phone scam. Deputies received a call from an area woman who had received a call Tuesday on her cell phone from a Monroe, North Carolina number. The person identified himself first as a Rick Foster, then later stated he was Greg Foster. The subject told the woman that she had a warrant out for her arrest and he needed her social security number and her daughter’s social security number. The woman did not give out either number and was told that Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies would be there within the hour to arrest her, and that Officer Justin Floyd was investigating the case. It was fully verified that she had no valid warrant against her. Sheriff’s officials say not to give out personal information over the phone and if they receive a similar call to report it to law enforcement.
