Move to 2A No Surprise to 3A Champ Union Mon, 23 Jan 2012 10:30:33 CST
The move from Class 3A to 2A was not a surprise for the Union football team, according to their head coach. Joe Hadachek tells 1650 The Fan that there had been quite a bit of talk that the defending Class 3A champs would be changing classes.
Hadachek says that there will be a bit of a difference in talent dropping down to 2A, but it will be a minor difference.
Hadachek says that mitigating those talent differences is the fact that two other teams in their new district are also dropping down from Class 3A.
Hadachek says a big part of his job between now and next fall will be making sure expectations for his team don’t get too high from people outside the program.
The Knights will play in Class 2A District 3 this fall. Their district opponents include Central Springs, Waterloo Columbus, Hampton-Dumont, New Hampton, Osage, and Waukon.
